10 Reasons why you should have a Will
1. Probability of Death is 100%, it’s not a “if” but “when?”.
2. It’s your last letter to your loved ones. A Will likely cost less than your mobile phone. AND you can’t use your phone up there.
3. Minimise disputes and maintain harmony among your loved ones.
4. State your preference for burial & funeral rites, otherwise your family may just engage both the priest and the monk at your funeral, just in case.
5. Name your executors. Who will be the best person to sort out your finance? This person may not be your spouse.
6. Make provisions for those who may not be entitled to your assets under statutory laws (Charities, illegitimate child, Elderly parents etc).
7. Expediate the probate legal process as the guess work is removed.
8. You can plan for “if-else” scenarios.
9. (For those with young children) To appoint a suitable guardian in case both you and your spouse perish in a common tragedy.
10. Without planning, a lump sum will be paid from your estate to your child at age of maturity, not such a good idea as they may not be matured enough to handle monies.
